چکیده

This work is an experimental investigation of the effect nature surfactants on oxygen mass transfer. The study focuses three cationic with different hydrophobic chain lengths, and four nonionic hydrophilic lengths. Equilibrium adsorption isotherms are calculated for each surfactant from values surface tension in static conditions. Surfactant solutions at concentrations between 2.5 × 10-8 5 10-3 mol/L were prepared transfer millimetric air bubbles (between 0.82 1.08 mm) was measured by Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence Inhibition (PLIF-I). When bulk concentration increased, results showed a sharp decrease bubble velocity, range 283–75 mm/s, liquid-side coefficient, 5.6 10-4–0.4 10-4 m/s. observed all studied. However, length did not appear to affect hydrodynamics rising or same concentration. Furthermore, concentration, increasing had impact velocity coefficient oxygen. Finally, Sherwood number medium compared classical correlations gas–liquid prediction. Those seemed reach limit very concentrated medium.

Study on Mass Transfer Enhancement in a Gas-Liquid System Using Nanomaterials

The main objective of this paper is to examine the effect of nanomaterials on mass transfer coefficient in bubble type absorption of carbon dioxide by experiment. The absorption process is carried out in a bubble column and in room temperature. Mass transfer coefficient, saturated concentration of CO2, and gas holdup are determined in this system. The kinds of nanomaterials, the concentrations ...

Visualization of gas–liquid mass transfer and wake structure of rising bubbles using pH-sensitive PLIF

A planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) technique for visualizing gas–liquid mass transfer and wake structure of rising gas bubbles is described. The method uses an aqueous solution of the pH-sensitive dye Naphthofluorescein and CO2 as a tracer gas. It features a high spatial resolution and frame rates of up to 500 Hz, providing the ability to capture cinematographic image sequences. By stee...

The Effects of a Surfactant Concentration on the Mass Transfer in a Mixer-Settler Extractor

The effects and influences of various parameters upon the efficiency and the overall volumetric mass transfer coefficients are important subjects to be studied in most liquid-liquid extraction processes. One of these important parameters is surface active agent (surfactant). In this paper, in order to study the effect of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) concentration on the efficiency and the a...

Gas-liquid mass transfer coefficient in stirred tanks interpreted through bubble contamination kinetics

Experimental data on the average mass transfer liquid film coefficient (kL) in an aerated stirred tank are presented. Liquid media used were tap water, electrolyte solutions and water with controlled addition of tensioactive material. Values of kL range from those expected for bubbles with a mobile surface to those expected for rigid bubbles. These data are quantitatively interpreted in terms o...
